My escape (MY FC post #6)

We all have a comfort place. That place that no matter what's going on, will mange to help you escape even if its just for the moment. For some it maybe the gym or in bed and for others maybe  deep within their thoughts or as they roll up.
My great escape takes me high to the sky, back and fourth, as I push my legs ageist the floor. No matter the weather or time a year I love to go to my special place and simply stare at the universe as I release everything that has been weighing me down. my special places always places a smile on my face even when I come with my broken heart and list of regents tattooed across my forehead. My great escape although can not speak has said so much at times that I just have to close my eyes and take it all in. Hold on tight and release  my every emotion , as it stokes me in the air causing the hair on my head to jerk back and forth. when I open my eyes and I'm back to myself I simple get up with the feeling of relief until I come back again and repeat.

I.D post #5

I must become much more better at managing my time! I am happy to say that my day at school goes by FAST maybe TO FAST! I arrive at school, get slapped in the face by Shakespeare vocabulary and horrible grammar worksheets for two periods. But then its like going to Starbucks, its all good but if you don't watch how much money your wasting you get stuck in a tight pickle. I can honestly say I am in a super tight pickle.
I have Ms. Mingles class right before lunch, not sure what period is that but it is my Satiates class. And although we are not doing any math because of various reasons I believe that that class is very useful. we come in and work on what needs to be done rather that be English blogs or College essay, we do it all! As of this week we are focusing on scholarships and careers we are interested in going into in our future.
But me, I honestly don't know. I'm slacking man, I'm slacking. I been going for the past week and do half of Government homework, try to get though anther grammar worksheet and some days I even check for college stuff. But what am I really doing? I don't feel satisfy once I live that room. I believe I can use my time more wisely if I focus  a bit more and manage my time better. The big question I always ask myself as the bell rings is, why did I go for the same 10 min worksheet rather then working on my long complex projects and past due essays?

SSR #4 blog

http://rap.genius.com/Kanye-west-who-will-survive-in-america-lyrics

Us living as we do upside-down
And the new word to have is revolution
People don't even want to hear the preacher spill or spiel
Because God's whole card has been thoroughly piqued
And America is now blood and tears instead of milk and honey
The youngsters who were programmed
To continue fucking up woke up one night
Digging Paul Revere and Nat Turner as the good guys
America stripped for bed and we had not all yet closed our eyes
The signs of truth were tattooed across our often entered vagina
We learned to our amazement, the untold tale of scandal
Two long centuries buried in the musty vault
Hosed down daily with a gagging perfume
America was a bastard
The illegitimate daughter of the mother country
Whose legs were then spread around the world
And a rapist known as freedom, free-DOOM
Democracy, liberty, and justice were revolutionary code names
That preceded, the bubblin' bubblin' bubblin' bubblin' bubblin'
In the mother country's crotch
What does Webster say about soul?
"All I want is a good home and a wife
And a children, and some food to feed them every night"
After all is said and done, build a new route to China if they'll have you
WHO WILL SURVIVE IN AMERICA?
WHO WILL SURVIVE IN AMERICA?
WHO WILL SURVIVE IN AMERICA?

WHO WILL SURVIVE IN AMERICA?

I am personally moved by this small skit/ speech. I feel like Kanye West makes a very valid point about our American society. I really connected to this skit and was amazed by the way it written.
The thing that stuck out the most to me when I first listened to this skit was his tone and diction. Kanye West used words like rapist and free-DOOM when talking about America and to describe how society has reach this stage. when it came to tone Kanye West sounded to be serious when talking, wanting to inform people about what has slowly happing. But I felt that in some way he was making fun of America. making it seem as a joke describing America as a virginal with a yeast infection.
I listened over and over to this skit daily, as I walked home from school and in the train. it really causes me to listen and think about what's occurring around me. I started thinking in fact who will survive in America?  I listen for a better understanding, what does he mean by everything he says?  Kanye West uses historical allusion to emphasize his view of America as corrupted and hopeless. for example when he says, "America is now blood and tears instead of milk and honey" is an historical allusion to the bible which refers to Israel the promise land. He also uses repletion to get his message across to the audience.
My favorite line in the skit is "what does Webster say about soul?". This is my favorite line because I think, wow I personally google everything, google is my first doctor, my therapist and everything in between so this line just makes me think like what real answers can we get from the internet? Is it true or worth believing. Webster is a very well know website where anyone can easily find information about almost anything, however anyone can also change and add information so its credulity is questionable.

my passion post #3

My passion, I really had to think hard about what I should or could write for this blog. I guess this is because I quit don't understand the meaning to passion. I looked up the defection and found two definitions; "strong and barely controllable emotion" and  "the suffering and death of Jesus". knowing this is a school base assignment I go with the first definition. so what is one of my passions in life?  First thing that comes to mind is piano.
Why piano? Well because I just love the piano. All 88 black and white keys that are capable of creating such sounds and melody. Oh, how I whish I had music class and learn to play the piano. something other than "Mary had a little lamb" which is the only thing I learn to play in 9th grade before my teach quite on us.
Piano is my passion because I can just listen to someone play all day. I love the vibration I feel as I place my hand over the piano while someone is playing. I love the idea that piano can create so many different sounds. All I asked for Christmas last year was for piano lessons and a piano, and although  my mom said our apartment is to small for a piano she did put me in piano classes in church that start again in January. I am so thankful for that and because I love the piano so much I am determine to learn how to play and hopefully change some other person's life and inspire them to learn to play and love an instrument as much or even more than I do.

class responce blog

Hey who ever is reading this, so let me tell you about English class. Ms. Hegeman plays no games. we are working from the moment we walk into that room to the every last two mins of class.

just yesterday we were reading a thick packet, that gets you to wonder how she even manage to get the staple though the whole thing, with nine different essays. we were to read a predict how much they scored base on the AP test rubric. she then had us share what the score was and discuss why is it so. after this as a class we decided what our rubric would look like and that is how she will grade our essay for the remained of the year.

we were also introduce to a new all year long project we are going to do. this year is all about poetry I see because our project is to present two poems to the class. we will work in small groups and when it is our turn to present the class is ours' we become the teacher. I think its a pretty neat idea I don't really mind listening to poetry and I love to write it. I don't really know how I feel about presenting though but it never hurts to try.

P.S. she mention a BINDER CHECK !!! secretly freaking out I thought she said she doesn't do that.

Please allow me to introduce myself

honestly, just like some people aren't good with good bye's, I am not good with introductions,in other words with (hellos). But for the sake of my English grade, I have no other choice but to put my best foot forward and do what is asked of me. with that being said,[I am a lost, clumsy, weird 18 year old outsider. Who attends Thurgood Marshall Academy, named yomira taveras.]that's basically it, that's me in less then 140 charters. but since this is not twitter let me lay it out for you. Who am I really? I can't just fall into these labels, categories. In all honesty I believe I have no definitive answer to this question. I feel as if I am a playlist, a mix or combination of songs all in one location. I am a playlist that consists of hip-hop/rap, as I walk out the salon with some fresh pair of js on my feet. I am pop, dancing without a care across my bedroom floor on a wendsday afternoon when nobody is home. I am jazz, as I cruse around the big apple where my every word is my fathers command. I am rock, taking long walks till my feet can no longer support my weight after countless fail attempts of being heard and still remaineding misunderstood. I am R&B, child if he only had a slight clue of how dangerously in love I am with you. So in other words I have no solid clue of who I am, I guess at the end I can say I am just a playlist unlabeled, no named, not able to fall into any cagory. I'm just me.
